Awful, Noel, all our sympathies from this household to you and your family. A truly traumatic and dreadful thing to happen, but as long as life and limb are OK, that's the main thing.

That must have been a real blow - it's hard to imagine. My sympathies. Best wishes for the recovery and putting your life back together.

So sorry to hear this terrible news, Noel. Truly shocking.  Just to echo what the lads have said above and to wish you and your family (and your furry family , not forgetting them) every good wish for the future. Concentrate on what you can manage going forward, and what makes you happy.

So sorry to hear the news. I’ve suffered flooding but fire is a different thing altogether. It takes no prisoners but at least you and yours are ok.

It's been a while since I posted here. Sad to report Kingsbridge layout is no more. Unfortunately our home was destroyed by a catastrophic house fire recently, but thank God all humans and animals were saved and safe. Stuff can be replaced but humans and pets cannot. Fortunately we managed to salvage some of the rolling stock that was stored elsewhere and our Gort model railway layout which was not in the house at the time is safe in storage.  At this stage with my limited mobility I cannot comprehend building those complex base boards again as I did when I was fit and well 30 years ago. Only one of the six main boards was stored in a separate shed. So once our home is rebuilt the focus may probably be on the expansion of Gort to including Tuam as a fiddle yard and/or even Ennis. Its all been a quite traumatic but we've been learning to breath once again and take life one inch at a time. So relived and grateful no loved ones were harmed. Time to pause and rebuild, once inch at a time. Take care.

Sorry to read this, @Noel. Glad that you, the family and furries are OK.

Terrible to hear Noel, must've been awful.

Good to hear everyone is okay and safe, which is the main thing. Well done to the paramedics getting your doggo back on his feet.

Very sorry to hear this news. Glad to hear everyone is safe. While I'm sure not high on the list of priorities but I've have a 141 I'd like to give you towards reclaiming what was lost hobby wise.

Only just picked this up and can only agree with all the other comments. Regardless of the time and effort we put into our models, it is loved ones who matter.

Noel, I'm very glad to learn that you and yours have come through this truly terrifying experience. I hope and pray that your home and family rise ever stronger for the future. As you rightly say, "things" are replaceable, people and pets are not and are precious beyond price.

So sorry to hear your dreadful news Noel, but glad to hear that you and all your loved ones are ok. The photo of the paramedics working on your dog is wonderful, the care and compassion that they are applying to your furry friend comes across so clearly, we are all very lucky to have such caring people working in our emergency services.

I'm sure that model railways will be very far down your list of priorities for a long time but glad to hear that at least your wonderful Gort layout has survived. If I can be of any help to you at any stage feel free to get in touch (I live close to Dublin).
