The 4-wheelers were delivered in silver. Remember, you don't need one if there's a steam loco on the front, or if it's summer time. Only diesel-hauled in trains in winter need the steam.

Also about half of the AEC railcars had built-in boilers so they don't need a steam van either.

From Ernie on Flickr, it's August so there's no need for heating:

MGW 1956-08-28 Athenry A35 011

Note the old MGWR six-wheeled brake third (or brake compo?) immediately behind the engine - Cusack 1905-ish design!

The Midland 6 wheeler appears to be a Cusack outline 6 Wheel Full Brake 2 introduced 1908 & a further 8 in 1924 so not that old by Irish Standards

Most likely A35 is on a Tuam-Galway local, there is a 1957 Sam Carse photo of A40 at Tuam with an almost identical consist with a 6w GSWR rather than a MGWR Full Brake leading the consist.

I wonder whether the trailing vehicle is a fitted van/cattle wagon or a non-passenger vehicle (Horsebox or Meat Van)?

Hi everyone,

We've been known to "throw the kitchen sink" into models in our range, and the term can become quite literal with our coaches. Those familiar with our Enterprise Mark 2 coaches will attest to this, and now our Park Royals can boast the same with their snack car conversions.

Showing our fully decorated interiors against our integral interior lighting just sets these classic CIE coaches off a treat.

I think that's going to need some 4mm scale food and drink to go in there....

Absolutely. The first modification needed is to get that shutter open and put a member of staff in the kitchen.

IRM have set a high bar for themselves. When the main line versions arrive, we’ll have to see what the lavatory details are like. A tiny soap grater above the basin?

On DCC, the flushing sound will be disabled when the loco is stationary.

Wow! Let me find an excuse to run these on my 60s branch line layout based on Connemara.

Fantastic attention to detail as always, the interior of the snack car is sublime.

Regarding the suburban and mainline coaches, there is no external difference is there ! just in the seating arrangements, would that be right.

Great to hear more variants will be produced, it's up to us now lads, buy, buy, buy.😁

Mainline coaches have toilets, so some frosted windows and probably water pipes on the roof?

We could suggest to IRM that they commission the British artist Willard Wigan to make some suitably scaled food, cutlery, etc. After all that is what he is famous for - microsculpture, like the 'evolution of man in the eye of a needle' sculpture! And there's many more! Word of warning though, check out his prices......not exactly cheap!!

Hi guys

just noticed that the Park Royals are gone up to 90 quid each on the website ...........is this right?

Will the price I booked them at over the last year or so be honoured?

thanks

The Mk2C's were also priced around that mark; €90 EURO / £75 GBP, so that must be the new benchmark for coach pricing.

I assumed that the Mk2C's were twinpacks when I saw the price, LOL.

Yes it will

Keep in mind these are at the very cutting edge of whats available now, decades ahead of any kit or other 'RTR' version of the Park Royal coach

Pre-order prices are set in stone so nothing to sweat about there..

In case anyone is of a nervous disposition, I suggest they stop reading now, but the days of the three figure( that’s GBP too) super detailed coach are upon us, of course with rake discounts, loyalty etc, a Park Royal shouldn’t cost anywhere near that

Continental HO modellers have been paying that type of price level or above for years now, and we never hear a word of complaint.

Tis a classic case of "if you want quality, you have to pay"!
