I think the bigger surprise today from Paddy was the discovery of some of the original run BGMs and being sold off by the stand.

I am glad I have all the ones applicable to my chosen era or I'd be going mad that I hadn't sent a representative lol. Do you know what he was charging for these rarities?

Does anyone know how long 174 stayed in that STIR livery?

Thats a difficult one to answer 174 made it into full IR livery prior to its withdrawal in sometime circa 1993 there are other examples of 141's in STIR livery up to 1991 /1992 if not beyond.

A Jonthan Allen picture of a weathered 174 in 1992

174 approaching Rush & Lusk

One question I forgot to ask yesterday when visiting Paddy Murphy's stand was the ETA on the 141/181 class additions.

Awesome!!!!!!!

Just so you know, the empty flats don't show up under the Container Liner heading, but do show under the general wagon collections heading.

When I asked Paddy he said hopefully sometime next year but the manufacturer has warned of production challenges.

These will appear before the MK3 as the driver cab is proving a real challenge.

Hadn't time to post them since the show
Been busy dealing with and reading some of the bitching that went on after the show
Tried to answer some but find I am barred from their forum
I mean  not being able to answer says it all
Keyboard assassins, don't you just love them

Are these being run using the same tooling as the original run, or new tooling?

Bachmann or Murphy Models packaging?

More importantly, where are you barred from now?

Saw the whinging, indeed. However, I think most of us with a bit of wit realised the realities as pointed out by some club members.n It's a bit like then preservation issue "Why doesn't the ITG / RPSI / DCDR put everything at Moyasta and everywhere else into fully-restored heritage use next week....?" In the tiny market that is Ireland, we're lucky to have shows at all, and people to man them and organise them.

Tis a sad scene in my office today, the pride of my bus and truck fleet has been boxed up and will be dropped off to the Post office tomorrow

On the plus side, I will be a couple of hundred better off coming into the weekend to fund my IRM ferts and a few more bits and pieces..

It feels a bit like selling my knee caps to buy new earlobes, the things we do for love!

Now the only question is, will Paddy take my first born as payment for 141s,as I'm running out of things to flog, soon it'll just be me, a desk and boxes of railway models!

Gone to Pastures new.jpg

I have started 3D printing large parcels of 500 euro notes in order to be ready for the next IRM announcement. All children, cousins, kitchen sinks, uncles, parents, siblings and neighbours are long since auctioned off. My credit card is at the doctor's this afternoon.

Didn't have time to bitch as I was busy consuming copious amounts of tea and stuffing myself with loads of tasty currant scones.

I had a fair oul go at the scones and KitKats, neither of which appeared to have any suitable pockets for NEM couplings, let alone a place for a DCC chip (mind you, they would have been a bit chewy). Otherwise, they looked extremely realistic.

Some tweaks to the original tooling plus speaker will be installed
MM packaging I presume, he is not associated with Bachmann any longer afaik
Cant remember the name of the site, shows how interested I was in it but its the one where I was lied about by its admin and then unable to answer as he barred me straight away!

147 missing a buffer? Or was it sent to Ukraine? BTW thanks for the pics.

Does anybody know when the new Murphy Model baby GMs 141/181 are due to be in retailers? Any indication of when in 2023 or perhaps 2024?

Likewise any dates for the mk3 sets?

Bit of patience maybe? He has only just announced them. If you had gone to the MRSI show last month you could have asked The Man in person and he would have told you

Not very long -  was the 1st 141 to be stood down, moreso for parts, circa 1993/4. 191 was the final STIR loco after its little adventure to Clonsilla

The numberwanger in me twigged that 174 and 191 had something in common (and 125 already done).

Thinking of adding some interior detailing to my 141/181 fleet. Which side is the steering wheel on? I presume the 071 class is the same?

Yes, all dual control, 'left' side generally has the CAWS and Train Radio equipment, right side only used for shunting

Coming in on this conversation after seeing Accurascale producing the Class 66 from moulds purchased from Hattons. IRM are already working with MM so I'm wondering if the MK2s and 3s being released (this year perhaps!) will get an IRM makeover and be marketed through the IRM website as a collaboration with MM!
