Mike 84C Posted June 4, 2020 Posted June 4, 2020 The bar has been raised! Looks like the new gold standard, where others only follow. I await the next loco announcement with baited breath! Keep up the good work lads! 2 Quote
popeye Posted June 4, 2020 Posted June 4, 2020 OMG, looks amazing. The bogie detail is the best i've ever seen. I think i would be afraid to touch it in case i damaged something. Can't wait now. 2 Quote
Midland Man Posted June 4, 2020 Posted June 4, 2020 (edited) By god that is amazing. Can not wait till I get one me self. Edited June 4, 2020 by Midland Man 2 Quote
iarnrod Posted June 4, 2020 Posted June 4, 2020 (edited) Absolutely stunning model. If you removed the coupling and added the pipework etc. on the front end, it would be hard to tell that isn't the real thing from certain angles. Both the IRM 001 models and the MM 121 models now bring Irish locos to a supreme next level in terms of detailing. Would love to see the earlier 141/181/071 models get this new next level detail treatment. Edited June 4, 2020 by iarnrod 2 2 Quote

Warbonnet Posted June 4, 2020 Author Posted June 4, 2020 Thanks everyone! Here is a look at the wooden presentation box too, to give you an idea, although it's not quite finalised yet! Also, if you dont fancy the collectors edition of A1, there is A30 in silver in the general range too. You can order that here: https://irishrailwaymodels.com/collections/a-class-locomotive/products/a30-a-class-locomotive Cheers! Fran 11 Quote

patrick Posted June 4, 2020 Posted June 4, 2020 If the presentation box would double as a jewelry box or hold a bottle of wine maybe some of us could pull a fast one on the domestic authorities in the interest of acquiring another A! 3 3 Quote
ttc0169 Posted June 4, 2020 Posted June 4, 2020 One of the finest and most detailed RTR models I have ever seen, the detail on the bogies alone is superb, looking forward to the Supertrain and IR versions. Well done gentlemen. 3 1 Quote

Sadly not, it would be too much of a nightmare logistically, and detract from the special nature of this. Maybe we will look at future special editions though and spread the eras around! 1 Quote
Wexford70 Posted June 4, 2020 Posted June 4, 2020 Will the inside be plastic as shown in the pics or some other sort of lining? Quote
JasonB Posted June 4, 2020 Posted June 4, 2020 Absolutely stunning gents. As each wagon was released, it seemed to push the bar that little bit higher each time. Yes, its probably expected now, and comes as no surprise. But to serve up this type of standard on your first locomotive is outstanding. Respect. 2 1 Quote

I agree but the MM models are little beauties in their own right and although new level of sophistication is present the A class, I'd much prefer to see a new model than a redo of the GMs 6 hours ago, Warbonnet said: Here is a look at the wooden presentation box too, to give you an idea, although it's not quite finalised yet! K801 Posted June 4, 2020 Posted June 4, 2020 Thanks. Fran, can you explain the "gearbox" thing or how it works? Quote
BosKonay Posted June 5, 2020 Posted June 5, 2020 11 hours ago, K801 said: Thanks. Fran, can you explain the "gearbox" thing or how it works? If you mean Metal Helical Gear box for maximum performance and slow speed running The gear tower / gear box connecting all of the wheels to the motor output are helical in shape, rather than traditional 'cogs'. This allows for much cleaner gear meshing, especially at slow speeds, and means your A will glide along at very slow speed without any jump or judder ! Added to the powerbank of capacitors built in, and the A will handle any track situation with ease, while pulling prototypically! Quote
Warbonnet Posted June 5, 2020 Author Posted June 5, 2020 For today's A Class decorated reveal we turn our attentions to A12, in the very attractive CIE black with yellow ends livery of the mid 1960s. We think this livery is particularly attractive on the Crossley powered metrovicks and expect it to become an enthusiasts favourite! Enjoy! You can pre-order your A12 model here for September 2020 delivery: https://irishrailwaymodels.com/collections/a-class-locomotive/products/a12-a-class-locomotive Cheers! Fran 12 5 Quote
Wexford70 Posted June 5, 2020 Posted June 5, 2020 Looks great. Was there a small problem with the masking for the yellow paint? Quote

connollystn Posted June 5, 2020 Posted June 5, 2020 If anyone's not happy with the IRM A Class I have a Lima class 33 in the CIE supertrain livery. 1 9 Quote
Noel Posted June 5, 2020 Posted June 5, 2020 Ya bad boys, now I'm going to have to order that livery also. Those bogies are masterpieces of art in their own right. You all and Richie especially must be a happy bunny with that incredible end result. I know his interests are mainly below the waist line (ie below the sole bar). Your going to create an earth quake in the UK market when your deltic and class 37 arrive assuming they are at a similar level of hyper detailing. Hat's off. 2 1 Quote

RedRich Posted June 5, 2020 Posted June 5, 2020 It is an amazing model. As has been said the A has set the bar again. From on site measuring, the mind blowing cad, to this stage has had so much hard work and research put into it . A superb model that has followed all previous models in quality. Too many manufacturers have gotten it wrong from the design and development stage leading to models that promised so much but didn't deliver. Rich, 4 1 Quote
iarnrod Posted June 5, 2020 Posted June 5, 2020 @Warbonnet What's the latest information regarding delivery dates for the 001 Class? Also, presuming no limit on quantity produced for any particular model apart from A1? Thanks Quote
