Yes, Dave, the Royal Mail's International prices are a nightmare for anyone trying to trade. I was sending a book to Australia and the guy at the counter asked for £20 plus (so doubling the price of the book - it was Tony's latest).

However, if you study their rates and are prepared to do some the work yourself - the cost just about halves. Perhaps this guy is a bit lazy re keeping the costs down to his customers?

I had a look at the Addresspal thing, as Sean suggests, but note that you're still landed with not just the VAT but a charge for them telling you what you owe. Bearing in mind that it's all done by computer and no human hands touch it - it makes the average Company for Theft and Murder look reasonable in their dealings.

I've deleted the expletives about the Little Englanders who took us out of the EU.

Ever since Murphy Models announced re-runs of refreshed baby GMs, there seems a good supply of second hand original MM/Bachmann 141/181s for sale these days on eBay and FaceBook at sensible prices compared to the ebay Rip offs up to last year.

Is this Lima junk heap for real: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/126084988109?hash=item1d5b403ccd:g:cLsAAOSwK2hk-1q5&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA4H7A9PqdHeNNp42Rvalq8lyE1%2B%2BkmzoGDDUbqHqfsGs0CHt6hVrgc7WqpPNeZBZTeGiTey%2B7NInF3XFcAiXp5JPDc2SUWwOh3ZDVxAuhx7NqV7EdizUq6whhH6Geb8256j0oiU5D2K%2BcOniw6xqabi2ZhXn6RFmOIpdYyV%2Bh%2FeYXQlQ8xZRRRlO2GM0ciwlgrHm6MkaDCdnWG5%2BK9qp3UcBAjTLGXWSzF4zm8%2BzTn7pzu4qjCB5Pr5EjkHAmq8OzL2acaAyLcIukb0TSTY3Tc3jVYcUUeilB9rP%2BcQshzuov|tkp%3ABk9SR6KYoZ7eYg

I've two of those hideous Lime class 33s painted orange pretending to be A classes in the attic for decades and don't think they are worth much more than a door stop nor a paper weight, perhaps static scrap line scenery on a layout. Pure junk, how this clown thinks there are worth €40 0+ is beyond belief. They don't look remotely like an A class even at 20ft.

Does your domestic supervisor need a new coat?

Get her a Ballybrophy coat. Ideal for going to exhibitions and trudging round model shops behind you.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/334866370054

Picture 1 of 3

Only £160 - but, if you watch it for a few days, you'll get an offer of £120.

Is she worth that..?

Lads, lads!

Christmas is coming and this Ballybrophy coat is back on and currently at a mere £6:50.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/276107719505

She has to be worth that, and it'll do for her birthday, as well.

Always worth keeping an eye on the Silver Fox eBay page. Aside from those GNR coaches, they also have Dutch vans, and we'll all need Dutch vans for our IRM Mk2B/C packs next year! Lots of Jouef Mk3's, too, and lots of spares.

Silver Fox:

Even though this guy here is a gouger, he does list some Irish things that are worth looking at, if not buying, although his descriptions tend to be rather creative:

Works out at €247 after postage and charges, not such a good price after that I reckon.

Jaysus!

Was just gonna say that you'd have to add on a bit so it wouldn't be €173 in the end, but I hadn't realised just how much.

That's scandallous, as bad as buying stuff down here from outside the islands.

Better checking with @WRENNEIRE / Marks Models / Brian Collins / RB Models!

Nearly sure that "Irish Bloke 77" had some for sale at €190 each on Adverts.ie recently.

Sounds like a fellow whose wife told him to sell off some of his models as she needs a new sofa.

"I tried hun but no one would buy them" 😉

I wish him luck, lots of it because at that price he's going to need it.

3/4s of a grand for a locomotive that could be re-released for a third of the price…

Maybe that "could" is shifting towards "will" if the Blackrock rumours are true.

Think it was @DonderBlitzen and his fellow reindeer who said that Paddy was running more 071's in both NIR blue and freight grey.

At the same time, there's a guy in Germany selling stuff at fairly reasonable prices, plus postage is low and there is no chance of getting hit with the 'Brexit bonus' either!

Wouldn't exactly say "reasonable" but would say he may be able to fill holes in collections for a premium.

He had an 8113 the other day but it was a little out of my price range, €400 plus postage!

😥

A few bits and bobs on eBay today - not posting reference screenshots as there are quite a few.

Murphy Models 8113 for €610 EURO, presumably UK based so slap on a bit more:

Oxford Diecast Mulgrew truck, love these, but not for €57 EURO:

Corgi Scammell Scarab in CIE green for €8 EURO:

A point to bear in mind, possibly - I've been 'watching' an item (not model or railway related) that I might get around to obtaining at some point.

It was a 'Buy It Now' for £27:89.

He's down to the last few and has nudged the price up to £127:89, possibly in the hope that the last few are snapped up by people who might not notice the 1..?

A year later, this item is at £126:95 - this being 29% down from the £179:95 that it spent the last six months at.

According to the 'Number Sold', not one has been sold since it was £27:89*.

872 are 'watching it', probably for the same reason as I am...

* I didn't buy one, even at £27:89, because I thought twelve quid would be about right and I got a very similar one for that.
