They kind of had a face for radio. But in model form, they look savage! Can't wait to order a few! The steam locos before, and the GM's after certainly put the A's down on looks. Orange suited the GM's more then the A/C Class. But the models do give them a Little more justice I didnt like the 121's at all until i got a model of one, maybe these models are swaying some to like these workhorses 2
minister_for_hardship Posted July 14, 2021 Posted July 14, 2021 I think the As certainly they beat their UK and Australian MV cousins in the looks department. Nose doors and flat faced cabs, ugh. 3
John-r Posted July 14, 2021 Posted July 14, 2021 These are seriously impressive looking, something about the dayglo panel on the tippex livery just looks cool, but then again every livery so far has looked great. 1
Warbonnet Posted July 14, 2021 Author Posted July 14, 2021 I must be in a minority thinking the As looked better than their GM counterparts so... 3 1
murphaph Posted July 14, 2021 Posted July 14, 2021 I guess it's personal. I prefer rugged boxy American diesels over flat sided European ones generally. 1

As I kid the A Class was always my favourite, but at the time the GM's were much more common on the southside (at least it seemed like it anyway!). Onna seperate note, when will the sound chips for the A's be available? 2
GSR 800 Posted July 14, 2021 Posted July 14, 2021 Both have their merits, but that pic of the 141s, B145 leading starting a train from Kingsbridge in a Second Glance has kept me tipped to a slight GM bias. Such shows what impressed upon me age 10 1

gm171 kk Posted July 14, 2021 Posted July 14, 2021 The As are so far down on my wishlist of Irish models (ive never seen one in real life) but I had to have the IRM model. They lasted til 1995 so just about within my era. 3
popeye Posted July 14, 2021 Posted July 14, 2021 Is the A1 silver the only one with sand boxes? and should A30 not have the too?
Warbonnet Posted July 14, 2021 Author Posted July 14, 2021 8 minutes ago, popeye said: Is the A1 silver the only one with sand boxes? and should A30 not have the too? Sand boxes didn’t last too long and our model of A30 is modelled from a pic which shows them removed while in silver livery. 1 1

Take yourself to Downpatrick and you will see a running A class there. 2

Warbonnet Posted July 15, 2021 Author Posted July 15, 2021 Hi everyone, Todays visual feast is IR with no dayglo panels! We'll have more reveals of the outstanding A1, Supertrain and IR locos in the coming days, not to mention some video content and more. In the meantime the As have been shifting at a mighty rate since we begun revealing the decorated samples. Don't miss out on that livery variant you fancy, because once they're gone, they're gone as Homestore and More says! https://irishrailwaymodels.com/collections/a-class-locomotive Cheers! Fran 5 2
John-r Posted July 15, 2021 Posted July 15, 2021 Stunning, that's all I can say, can't wait to get my paws on this one as well. Great job lads.

Patrick Davey Posted July 15, 2021 Posted July 15, 2021 Way after my timescale but very impressive! Maybe time to update the leaderboard? Just in case I find a few notes down the back of the sofa……. 3 1
murphaph Posted July 15, 2021 Posted July 15, 2021 Not surprised the sales have picked up the pace with these pics. Outstanding. 2

Not surprised - well done to all involved, you deserve for this to be a roaring success. A Crossley roar of course........ 3 2

the Bandon tank Posted July 15, 2021 Posted July 15, 2021 Not surprised sales are up, very clever marketing. 2

A Crossley roar of course........ The Australian 3'6" gauge Metrovicks (WAGR X & XA Class) retained their Crossley engines to the end 1988 working narrow gauge Perth Suburban trains until services were electrified, few clouds of dirty smoke unlike the CIE engines. 3
murphaph Posted July 16, 2021 Posted July 16, 2021 Poorly refined Russian diesel bought by CIE? Or was that an old wives' tale? In the buses it certainly smelled, unique. A stroll along Middle Abbey Street or Fleet Street would leave you with mild brain damage back then.
Warbonnet Posted July 16, 2021 Author Posted July 16, 2021 Happy Friday everyone! Our factory sent us this last week showing A Class testing. They test every A Class before packing into their boxes. A Class Factory Testing.mp4 11 1 1
GSR 800 Posted July 16, 2021 Posted July 16, 2021 Excellent stuff, completely silent and went over that crossover with ease. Can't wait till they hit home turf! 2
