Popular Post patrick Posted October 16, 2021 Popular Post Posted October 16, 2021 (edited) A55 on a short goods on the South Waterford line in the late sixties. Apart from the brake van which is scratch built all the wagons are Provincial Wagons kits. These kits are not at all difficult to build. Painting is even easier, all you need is rattle can of grey or brown paint. No masking required. Edited October 16, 2021 by patrick 16 1 1 5 Quote

Registers particularly well with me tonight, as Barry Carse & I have just cycled on the Waterford greenway..... One my all-time favourite layouts. Captures the atmosphere of those times better than just about anything! 18 hours ago, Colin R said: Hay Murphaph I wonder how much people would pay if you could make a replica works plate say in resin It would depend on how many were made, and of what material. Most of the cost would be design and setting it all up, so a low "print run" would make the sale price outlandishly expensive for a replica. I would buy one too, I reckon - but how many of all of us would? Edited October 17, 2021 by jhb171achill I’m 2 Quote

Actually, seeing the black A Class, makes me sorry I didn't opt for one - looks good on the goods! As always, the layout looks great - very impressed by the autumnal colours in the trees - do you change them to suit the season? Get your kits from Lorna at Wexford next Sunday (24th). PS She ain't got cattle wagons (e-mail /PM me if you need some), but corrugateds, H vans, double beets and my delightful GSWR brake van are all in the Dublin stock. 2 Quote

The layout is set in early October Leslie, in order to run beet trains. The year is currently 1974 but I'm slowly acquiring stock for a 1967 operating session. 1 Quote
Patrick Davey Posted October 17, 2021 Posted October 17, 2021 Still mesmerised by this stunning loco 13 3 Quote
TimO Posted October 17, 2021 Posted October 17, 2021 If this fabulous atmospheric photo doesn’t increase demand for A42 ( and a few PW goods wagons) I don’t know what will. Delighted to see this loco at home on a layout. 15 2 1 Quote
leslie10646 Posted October 17, 2021 Posted October 17, 2021 Dare I say it, Mr Davey, but I prefer the green livery with the stripe as you have above. You've set me wondering if a green A Class ever ran over the Antrim Branch - Black 'n Tan B Class certainly did (albeit infrequently). By the way, a very nice job with the point rodding. Mr Dillane, I should have known that you would grow trees appropriate to the beet season. 1 Quote

Mayner Posted October 18, 2021 Posted October 18, 2021 Another package arrived this morning. Time for a photo before A23r relocates to a display case! Possibly July-Aug 1971 recently re-powered A23r arrives in Keadue with an early morning a trip working from Sligo before working an overnight goods to the North Wall. At one stage there were plans for a Broad gauge Collonney-Arigna line and even a proposal in the early 1902 to convert the C&L to Broad gauge! 7 1 Quote
DiveController Posted October 18, 2021 Posted October 18, 2021 To be honest I was thinking of getting a second one in dark green, but alas! Surprising that this sold so quickly like the BnT livery, must have been in smaller quantities. Were many painted into the dark green? Was considering a renumber. Might also do a light green with a stripe if I get brave enough 1 Quote
murphaph Posted October 18, 2021 Posted October 18, 2021 Maybe @WRENNEIRE has a dark green one available? If not, someone will sell one on eBay. IRM might even find one down the back of the sofa when doing a tidy up when the dust has settled. They have certainly found stuff before during the stock take. Maybe ask can you reserve one if one turns up? Quote
John-r Posted October 18, 2021 Posted October 18, 2021 I really do hope the lads find some spare A46s behind the sofa, I sat on the fence a bit too long and when I saw the above photos, though they looked smashing, said I'll get one, then gone, Any help anyone, thanks. Quote
Warbonnet Posted October 18, 2021 Author Posted October 18, 2021 I'm afraid they're all gone, folks. Turned out to be a really popular livery made in the same quantity of IR and BNT locos. We're really running low in several other liveries too, so I wouldn't hang about reserving ones you like. Cheers! Fran 1 1 Quote
Westcorkrailway Posted October 18, 2021 Posted October 18, 2021 To be fair, we all had fair warning that when there gone, that’s it. im sure at this early stage a private dealer or marks still has them 2 Quote
connollystn Posted October 18, 2021 Posted October 18, 2021 Correct me if I'm mistaken but there will be a regular on here who'll be attending the Wexford Model Railway Club open day next Sunday [24th inst] and he might have a few of the said As for sale. He's pulled a few rabbits* out of the hat for me. *Not actual rabbits but a few rare model railway items I was lookoing for. 2 Quote
Irishswissernie Posted October 18, 2021 Posted October 18, 2021 These 2 arrived today. Only A42 outstanding now as it was ordered 18 September last year and no notification yet, whereas these 2 were only ordered in July this year 15 1 2 Quote

You posted here about a bazillion times that you were going away, now you're moaning because the locos didn't arrive while you were away. We just like to be proactive is all. We didnt want your As sitting on a step or getting wet and to save you a trip to your local sorting centre, so we thought to hold off for a few days would be wise. I have released them for you so should get wrapped and packed tomorrow, all going well. Cheers! Fran 6 2 1 Quote
